Did You Know? - When you shop at Moore Equine Feed & Pet Supply you can rest assured that the products you're buying are ones we have researched and sourced with our own pets in mind. Everyone on our staff is an animal lover and has their personal animal support crew at home. From cats, dogs, and horses all the way to chickens and ferrets. In our next few featured "Did you know...?" blogs we will be taking the time to introduce each of our staff members and their furry (and feathered) family members to you.

Start a farm they said…it will be fun they said... One of my favorite sayings of all time is “If you ever feel like you have control over your life, start a farm.” This goes through my head quite often as I'm up at dawn for the screaming hungry cats and dogs and the pawing horses in the barn wanting breakfast and to be turned out. So take that saying and embrace it, but also know this…I wouldn't trade it for anything. So without further ado let me introduce you the Tabula Rasa Farm staff: Snow (not) White and the Seven Dwarfs:

Gracie is your stereotypical Warmblood mare. She is my heart and soul but she is not the easiest to get along with... I suppose we are a lot alike and that's why we get along so well. I got her when I was 14 and she was 13, so we have been down quite the road together. Together we went from first level to Prix St. George and with all the blood, sweat, and tears I wouldn't trade the ride (pun intended) for anything. Today she runs the farm (literally) and still enjoys working and keeping me on my toes at 21 years old.

If you ever want to count on being greeted every time you walk in your barn, get a mini! Cooper is the happiest of everyone all the time and welcomes food and pets no matter the time of day or night. Cooper has been with me the past nine years and fulfills his role of babysitting and upping the cuteness factor of the farm everyday.

"Doc" aka Brie Brie is a 15 year old rescue dog that we adopted from Solutions for Animals about fourteen years ago. She is a beagle/sheltie mix and enjoys running through my garden and hunting voles in the backyard when she isn't busy sleeping or eating. She is also the parental figure to all the small animals in the house.

Buddy or Wubbs as we call him is another 15 year old rescue beagle the came to us about 10 years ago. Buddy was a mistreated hunting dog and once we got him over the urge to dig out of the fence and go hunting whenever he felt like it he has been a great companion dog. He spends his days sleeping and watching squirrels from the sofa. He still occasionally goes out and sniffs around, but he likes his low key job of holding the sofa down much more these days.

"Sleepy" aka Buckeye Buckeye is one of the two bobtail kittens that got shipped to the store in the middle of a Feed pallet at about a day old. He is everything you would think he would be since he was a kitten raised by humans. He is loving, annoying, and has no sense of what Cat language is. He is my best snuggle friend when I feel like slacking off and sitting down on the sofa for a few minutes, he's an enabler really.

Yota is Buckeye’s brother. He has a slightly longer bobtail and a little more white on the face. Other than that you can't really tell them apart. Yota enjoys watching bugs and paying finger spider games. On the chance that you catch him when he's tired he is also a very good snuggle cat.

"Grumpy" aka Murci Murci is my only female cat. She was a stray (or dumped) that jumped the fence into the back yard one night and walked up the stairs, rubbed against my legs, came inside and never left. She is the queen of the cats and thinks that Yota and Buckeye are her kittens. She wants to be loved and played with when she feels like it, otherwise she wants nothing to do with people or the other cats. Murci enjoys Bird watching with me in the mornings while I have my coffee.

Thomas is the newest addition to Tabula Rasa Farm. He was a male that I trapped with the intention on neutering and releasing. Come to find out he was the friendliest “feral” Cat ever and now resides inside with the rest of the orange gang. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body, but he is still learning all the ins and outs of life with three other cats.
